Kanyakumari, popularly called as “the Cape Camorin” is a city in kanyakumari district with historical significance and a best tourist spot.

Best Time To Visit Kanyakumari
Winter (October-January)
The best time to visit Kanyakumari is during its winter season. The winter season is from October to January at kanyakumari. The cape festival is also celebrated in the month of October.

Places To Visit In Kanyakumari
Thiruvalluvar statue
This is a statue built in memory of the great saint and Tamil poet, Thiruvalluar. He is the author of the famous ancient Tamil work Thirukkural. The height of Thiruvalluvar statue is about 133-foot and it is on a rock island in kanyakumari. The rock island is surrounded by the major oceans namely the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. The statue is made up of 5000 tons of Stones and 2000 tons of high-quality granite stones and has an ability to withstand the earthquakes. It was opened on January 1 (millennium day) of 2000 .

Vivekananda Rock Memorial
The Vivekananda rock memorial is at Vavthurai of kanyakumari. It’s a place where the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal meet the Indian Ocean. This was built in the memory of the Indian philosopher swami Vivekananda in 1970. As swami Vivekananda visited this place and meditated. A pedestrian bridge connects the shore and the rock. This consists of the Vivekananda Mandapam and the Shripada Mandapam. They have six rooms to do meditation and ferries are used to reach the meditation halls.

Udayagiri Fort and Padmanabhapuram Palace
Padmanabhapuram was the capital of Travancore Kingdom. At present, this is at the Thuckalay town of kanyakumari district. The Udayagiri fort is spread across187 acres. The fort is surrounded by the hills and rivers and it contains a palace at its centre which was built in the early 1601 AD. The palace holds the beautiful ancient architecture with a park and an art gallery for the visitors.

Swami Vivekananda Wandering Monk Museum
This is a museum for the great monk Swami Vivekananda. This museum is at the campus of Vivekananda Kendra of kanyakumari. Here, they display all the principles of Swami Vivekananda at a detailed manner.

Vivekanandapuram
Vivekanandapuram is the headquarters of the Vivekananda Kendra and it is spread across 100 acres. This was established by Eknathji Ranade for the great monk and philosopher Swami Vivekananda. It consists of a peacock sanctuary, Eknathji Mandapam, Vivekananda Mandapam and Gangotri.

Kumari Hall of History
This is a gallery which displays the photographs of many Indian leaders, historical places and events. It is near the south side of kanyakumari railway station.

Tirparappu Waterfalls
This is a famous waterfall of 300 ft long, descending from the Kothai River. The Tirparappu Waterfall which is about 42 km away from the kanyakumari. There is an abundant stream of water seven months in a year and has a well-known temple of lord Shiva called as Mahadever Kovil.

Pechiparai Reservoir
The Pechiparai Dam over the Kodayar River gave rise to the famous Pechiparai Reservoir. This reservoir is in the Pechiparai village of Kanyakumari.

Mathur Aqueduct
The Mathur aqueduct is the biggest Aqueduct in Asia present at the Vilavancode Taluk of Kanyakumari . It’s a hanging Trench constructed on top of the Pahrali River.

Olakaruvi Waterfalls
Olakaruvi waterfalls consists of two levels of waterfalls in the midst of Western Ghats. It is in the Azhagiapandipuram village of Kanyakumari District. The only way to reach the hill is by a 2 to 3 km of trekking on rocky forest atmosphere. This is the best place for all adventure seekers.
Keeriparai Reserve Forest
It’s a forest with many small waterfalls. There are several species of animals and birds which includes lions, elephants and pythons in its natural environment with variety of faunas and floras. This is 40 km away from the kanyakumari and it’s the best place to explore and enjoy.

View Tower and Telescope House

Anandankulam Boat House

Kumari Amman Temple
Shree Bhagavathy Amman Temple which is popularly known as the Kumari Amman Temple. This temple is in the temple road of kanyakumari. It is also famous for its Dhwajastambha (Flagmast) and a small shrine for Tyaga Sundari.

Thanumalayan Temple
This is a 17th century temple with amazing architecture and sculptures. The specialty of Thanumalayan temple is , it is dedicated to the lord Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma together called as the mumoortigal. This temple is in Suchindram, Kanyakumari.

Sri Adikesavaperumal Temple
This is a 300 year old temple near the Padmanabhapuram of kanyakumari. Sri Adikesavaperumal Temple is surrounded by the famous three rivers called Kothai, Pahrali and Thamirabarani.

Chitharal Jain Temple and Monument

Gandhi Memorial kanyakumari
It is a memorial for the great freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi. This memorial was built in the year 1956. The ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were presented for the public view in this memorial. This Gandhi Memorial posses a central shape high tomb of 79 foot resembling his years of age. The memorial is on the shores of kanyakumari near the kumari amman temple.

How To Reach Kanyakumari
By Train
Kanyakumari railway station is the main station for the coastal city of kanyakumari. The station code of kanyakumari is CAPE under the Indian railways. The Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Vivek Express (with running distance of 4,283 km) and the Himsagar Express (with running distance of 3,789 kilometres) are the longest trains that depart from kanyakumari. The kanyakumari railway station is also well connected with all the metropolitan cities of India like chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi.
By Road
The kanyakumari state corporation bus stand is the most active as its connects all the major cities in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. For a drive, NH-7 is the best national highway to reach kanyakumari. It connects all the cities between Varanasi to kanyakumari. Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil are the prominent transport hubs near kanyakumari.
By Flight
The nearest airport to kanyakumari is the Trivandrum airport, Kerala. It is about 90 km away from Kanyakumari and it connects to many domestic and international places including Middle East, Singapore, and Srilanka.
